How to Write Service Pages That Rank and Convert
By Scott Sutter · Easty Marketing Group · June 2026
A service page has two jobs: rank on Google (and earn AI citations) and convert the visitor into a lead. Most service pages fail at both because they're written for neither — they're generic descriptions of services that don't target specific keywords or speak to buyer psychology.
The Service Page Architecture
H1: Keyword-Optimized Headline
Your H1 should include your primary keyword and speak directly to the buyer's desired outcome. 'SEO for Law Firms in Cincinnati' is better than 'Law Firm Marketing Services'.
Opening Paragraph: Direct Answer
Answer the buyer's primary question in the first paragraph. What do you do, who do you serve, and what result does it produce? This is also the content AI systems are most likely to extract.
The Problem: Why They Need You
Articulate the specific problem your service solves. Buyers need to see that you understand their situation before they'll trust your solution.
The Solution: What You Do
Describe your service in terms of outcomes, not processes. Not 'we run keyword research and optimize your pages' but 'we identify the keywords your buyers are using and ensure your site ranks for them'.
Proof: Evidence It Works
Case studies, testimonials, specific results, or methodology that builds credibility. A conversion claim without evidence is ignored.
FAQ: Structured for AI
Address the top 5-7 questions buyers ask about your service. Use FAQ schema. This section significantly improves AI citation frequency.
CTA: Clear Next Step
A single, prominent call to action. Book a call, get a quote, schedule a consultation. One CTA, clearly stated.
