The SEO Roadmap: How to Prioritize and Execute
By Scott Sutter · Easty Marketing Group · June 2026
Strategy without execution is just a slide deck. The SEO roadmap is how you translate your strategy into daily, weekly, and monthly actions that compound into measurable results.
The 90-Day SEO Roadmap Framework
A 90-day roadmap is the right planning horizon for SEO. Long enough to see meaningful progress. Short enough to stay adaptive. Each 90-day cycle should follow the same structure:
Days 1-30: Foundation
Fix technical blockers, optimize highest-priority pages, establish baseline tracking. This phase is about removing everything that's holding you back.
Days 31-60: Build
Create content that fills your identified gaps, begin link building outreach, implement schema and structured data. This phase builds the assets your strategy needs.
Days 61-90: Expand
Publish supporting content, amplify high-performing pages, report on progress and refine priorities. This phase compounds what's already working.
How to Prioritize Your SEO Work
Every action on your roadmap should be scored on two dimensions: impact and effort. High-impact, low-effort actions come first. A page that ranks on page two for a high-value keyword needs minimal work to move to position one — that's your highest priority. A new content piece targeting a competitive keyword requires months of work and may not move the needle for a year — that goes to the back of the queue.
Tracking and Iteration
Your roadmap is a living document. Review it monthly against your core metrics: rankings for target keywords, organic traffic to priority pages, leads from organic search, and AI citation frequency. When something's working, double down. When something isn't, diagnose it and adjust.
